East Lancashire Hospital Trust therapeutic circumcision and subsequent complications in different age groups

This file is a return provided under freedom of information from East Lancashire Hospitals NHS Trust showing circumcisions performed in 2011 and readmissions which occurred in up to 90 days post surgery, with diagnosis. I've used the diagnosis to analyse the results to show which appeared to be relevant and non relevant. This allows the calculation of complication rates in different age groups, showing that the group in which therapeutic circumcision is least likely to be necessary (note BAPS Su Anna Boddy says 'virtually never') is also the group which appears much more likely to suffer a significant complication. This is one of many returns from hospital trusts which suggest too many 'therapeutic' circumcisions may be being performed and helps to illustrate why this should be a concern both on the level of NHS resources and invididual/family impacts.
