Dataset for "Vernacular Cartographies of Riverine Risk: The Historical Pontos of the Douro River"

This dataset supports the article “Vernacular Cartographies of Riverine Risk: The Historical Pontos of the Douro River”. It contains a structured inventory of the 90 historical Pontos identified in Portugal Antigo e Moderno, vol. VII, pp. 198–200, and a derived subset of preliminarily located points used for cartographic representation. The dataset includes historical names, historical/local references, preliminary coordinates, confidence levels, analytical highlighting and interpretive notes. The coordinates are approximate and source-based; they should not be interpreted as definitive georeferencing or precise GPS locations. The dataset is intended to support transparency, reproducibility and scholarly reuse of the article’s historical and cartographic analysis.
