The composition and metabolic activities of gut microbiota are strongly interconnected with the onset and development of heart failure and cardiac fibrosis (CF). Puerarin is a main active ingredient of radix puerariae, a traditional edible and medicinal herb that has been shown to have beneficial effects on cardiac fibrosis (CF). However, it is still unclear whether puerarin alleviates CF by modulating gut microbiota. Therefore, our study investigated the cardioprotective effects of puerarin in isoprenaline-induced CF through modulating gut microbiota.
