PVD-2 : Shaking Table Testing to Evaluate Effectiveness of Vertical Drains for Liquefaction Mitigation

3.0 in. inside diameter prefabricated vertical drains were installed at three foot spacing in the laminar shear box. The box was shaken at a testing acceleration of 0.015 g, followed by three tests at 0.05 g, 0.1 g and 0.2 g. The accelerations were sinusoidal waves lasting 7 seconds with a period of 0.5 seconds. These tests were performed three times in sequence, with a CPT before the initial test, and one CPT after each round of testing.
