A husband and wife acting team for the first time in history won filmdom's coveted 'Golden Apples' awarded annually by the Hollywood Women's Press Club to the most cooperative actor and actress in motion pictures. Tony Curtis and Janet Leigh, the winners, received their awards at the annual Christmas party of the club today (Wednesday) in the Palm Room of the Beverly Hills Hotel. President Ivy Wilson made the presentations at the luncheon, of which Frances Scully was chairman. Jeff Chandler and Virginia Mayo were runners-up for the 'most cooperative' titles. Rita Hayworth and Mario Lanza were voted 'least cooperative.' The filmland women's press corps presented Curtis with a Golden Apple 'script marker' and Miss Leigh with a Golden Apple lapel pin. The winning couple both will commence films immediately after New Year's at Curtis home studio, Universal-International. The Golden Apple awards were first made in 1941."
