Legionella plasmidome, the role of HGT in shaping the evolution and virulence of the etiological agent of legionellosis

Environmental isolates of Legionella spp. were collected from man-made water systems in Poland as part of a research project investigating the role of plasmids and horizontal gene transfer in the evolution and virulence of the genus. Whole-genome sequencing (Illumina and Oxford Nanopore) was performed to obtain high-quality assemblies and to characterize plasmid content and diversity. The generated data will contribute to the analysis of the Legionella plasmidome, providing insights into genomic plasticity, recombination dynamics, and the emergence of virulence traits.
