This study evaluates the effects of heat shock on four diverse yeast strains (DBVPG6765, Y12, DBVPG6044, YPS128, and a recombinant population made by crossing them. We subjected the recombinant population to multiple rounds of random spore analysis, including one round including a heat shock treatment. These data suggest that when incorporated into a random spore analysis protocol, heat shock leads to increased genetic diversity among the cells that survive and mate. Included in this SRA are sequences of the initial four strains, and the recombinant population after 0, 6, and 12 random spore analysis cycles, as well as a final cycle after heat-shock.
