With mounting concerns over environmental sustainability, finding efficient ways to convert organic wastes like fat, oil, and grease (FOG) into usable energy is critical. This study highlights polyvinylidene chloride (PVDC)'s potential as a microbial carrier for enhancing anaerobic digestion processes, offering insights into promoting FOG degradation while mitigating process inhibition caused by long-chain fatty acid. PVDC is the first microbial carrier which is capable of adhering to the microorganisms involved in the lipid degradation process. Such advancements hold promise for sustainable waste management and renewable energy generation, aligning with global efforts towards a circular economy and climate change mitigation.
