RNA sequencing of Plasmodium vivax clinical samples enriched for the schizont life stage will allow quantitative and qualitative assessments of transcription just prior to erythrocyte invasion. These RNA-seq data will also help to improve gene model predictions in the P. vivax genome, including uncovering novel gene transcripts and alternative splicing events, validate and/or correct current gene models, and predict 5'and 3' untranslated regions.
