A deep wide-area XMM survey in the ELAIS-S1 field

We propose a mosaic of 6 deep XMM pointings, 100ks each, to coveruniformly a large, 1 deg2, and contiguous area of the ELAIS S1region. This has been already observed in the farIR with ISO, and inoptical and radio bands. In one year this area will be surveyed withSIRTF in 7 IR bands from 3 to 160 micron by the approved Legacyprogram SWIRE, which will make the largest sky region deeply surveyedin the far IR for the next several years. The main purpose of thisproposal is to investigate the correlation between the formation andlightup of supermassive black holes in galactic nuclei and theformation and evolution of galaxies. truncated!, Please see actual data for full text [truncated!, Please see actual data for full text]
