This book presents a comprehensive study of the Pararhizomyine rodents discovered in Linxia Hui Autonomous Prefecture, Gansu Province, China. A total of 7 species under two genera, *Pararhizomys* and *Pseudorhizomys gen. nov.*, are documented herein. Among these, there is 1 known species (*Pararhizomys hipparionum*), 2 new species belonging to *Pararhizomys* (*Pa. huaxiaensis*, *Pa. longensis*), and 4 new species assigned to the newly established *Pseudorhizomys* (*Ps. indigenus*, *Ps. gansuensis*, *Ps. planus*, *Ps. pristinus*). The book provides detailed descriptions and comparative analyses of the cranial and postcranial skeletons of all genera and species within the Pararhizomyine rodents. Using cladistic analysis, this study assigns the Pararhizomyine rodents to the subfamily Tachyoryctoidinae of the family Spalacidae within the superfamily Muroidea, and establishes a new tribe, Pararhizomyini, for this group. Additionally, the book reconstructs and conducts functional analyses of the cephalic and forelimb musculature of both *Pseudorhizomys* and *Pararhizomys*, discusses their inferred life habits, and concludes that the Pararhizomyine rodents are fossorial rodents. The origin, evolutionary development, and extinction of the tribe Pararhizomyini are closely correlated with the geographic and climatic changes in central East Asia during the Late Miocene to Early Pliocene, particularly the uplift of the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau.
