资源简介:
According to Brewer and Burgess (2005), motivation is a fundamental and crucial component of learning. This is especially true for students who are learning a second or foreign language. This study aimed to investigate the type of motivation for English language learning among Thai employees at a private company, the significant differences between employees' intrinsic and extrinsic motivations to learn English, and the English skills that employees want to improve. One hundred and seventy employees in the organization who worked in different sections of the company completed the survey. The study revealed that the employees have a high level of motivation to learn English, and their extrinsic motivation type is slightly higher than their intrinsic motivation. The majority of employees want to learn English in order to progress in their careers, and T-test result showed that there are no significant differences between employees' intrinsic and extrinsic motivations to learn English. The majority of employees rated English as somewhat important in their careers because they use reading skills every day at work. Therefore, they possess a high level of proficiency in reading. On the other hand, they aim to enhance their speaking skills for both professional and personal purposes.
