End sequences from bacterial artificial chromosomes (BACs) provide highly specific sequence markers in large-scale sequencing projects. BAC end sequences (BESs) support quality assessment, sequence assembly, and comparative genomics. TIGR is sequencing end sequences from 100,000 clones fom the CHORI-230 library and from 100,000 clones from a MboI library.
