NCRB: SLL Crimes ‐ Juveniles in Conflict with Law
收藏资源简介:
This map presents State and Union Territory-wise statistics on juveniles in conflict with law apprehended under Special and Local Laws (SLL) in India for the year 2024, as compiled by the National Crime Records Bureau (NCRB). The dataset provides a spatial representation of offences committed by juveniles under various Special and Local Laws, enabling comparison of juvenile crime patterns across States and Union Territories and supporting the assessment of regional variations in juvenile delinquency. The attribute information includes the number of juveniles apprehended under major Special and Local Laws, such as the Arms Act, Excise Act, Gambling Act, Motor Vehicles Act, Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, Prohibition Act, Railway Act, Forest Act, Immoral Traffic (Prevention) Act, and other Special and Local Laws. For each offence category, the dataset provides annual values for 2022, 2023, and 2024, facilitating temporal comparison and analysis of changes in juvenile involvement under different legal provisions over the three-year period. The data reveal considerable variation in the distribution of juvenile SLL offences across India. Motor Vehicles Act, Excise Act, Gambling Act, and NDPS Act-related offences generally account for a comparatively larger proportion of juvenile apprehensions, reflecting the broader prevalence of these offences across many States. In contrast, offences registered under specialised laws such as the Immoral Traffic (Prevention) Act, Forest Act, and certain regulatory legislations consistently record the lowest number of juvenile cases, with several smaller States and Union Territories reporting negligible or no cases under these categories. Larger and more populous States generally report the highest number of juvenile SLL offences due to greater population size, urbanisation, and reporting levels, while smaller States and Union Territories typically record the lowest values. The availability of data for 2022–2024 enables identification of emerging trends, increasing or decreasing patterns, and regional shifts in juvenile crime under Special and Local Laws. This feature class is intended to support juvenile justice administration, crime mapping, spatial and temporal analysis, law enforcement planning, policy formulation, rehabilitation programme design, and criminological research. It can be used by government agencies, police departments, Juvenile Justice Boards, researchers, planners, and GIS professionals to identify areas with relatively high juvenile involvement under Special and Local Laws, evaluate intervention strategies, monitor changing crime patterns, and support evidence-based decision-making. This map is updated annually using data from 2024. A key limitation is that it does not reflect the current situation, as the information is presented only as an annual aggregate.
