资源简介:
Three soil samples from the Yakima Training Center in Washington were submitted to
Paleo Research Institute for pollen analysis. Two of the samples were collected from 45KT44,
and the bighorn sheep skull was noted in the vicinity, but not associated with any archaeological
site in the area. Site 45KT44 is a large village site occupied for much of the past 8,000 years.
Two samples were collected from trenches "to investigate the geomorphology of the site"
(Kimberly Dawson, personal communication, November 1, 2005). A single sample collected
from the interior of a bighorn sheep skull excavated from a cutbank of Cold Creek was
examined to provide information concerning local vegetation in this area at the time the skull
was deposited.
