Amateur Fishery management areas (FMA's) are defined within Schedule 7 of the Fisheries (Amateur Fishing) Regulations 2013. FMA's are based on likely stock boundaries as well as administrative considerations. FMA's are the basis of QMA's for most fish stocks. The amateur FMA's combined with the Kaikōura and Fiordland Marine Areas make up New Zealand's 7 recreational fishing areas.
