We established a mouse model of radiation-induced cardiac injury. Specifically, we administered a single dose of 6 MV X-ray 20Gy to the hearts of 7-9 week old male C57BL6J mice using a Varian linear accelerator. Six hearts in each group were mixed as one sample. CD45+ magnetic beads were then used to sort out cardiac white blood cells from the control group, 7 days after irradiation, and 35 days after irradiation.
