In November 2010, the Gulf of Mexico Fishery Management Council (Gulf Council) hosted a Sector Separation Workshop in Tampa, Florida, to discuss and obtain perspectives on sector separation (GMFMC 2010). Sector separation refers to the dividing of the recreational quota into one or more separate for‐hire and private angler sector quotas. During the past year, the Gulf Council has included actions considering sector separation in several fishery management plan amendments, and most recently voted to begin development of a standalone amendment to address sector separation. 2011 NMFS (National Marine Fisheries Service) SER (Southeast Region) Submitted Public Domain 1930
