资源简介:
Our study seeks to elucidate the longitudinal relationship between multi-dimensional poverty and antimicrobial resistance (AMR) globally, building on foundational work in Pakistan. Previously, we found the Multi-Dimensional Poverty Index (MPI)—a measure of health, education, and living standards—was an independent predictor of AMR prevalence in Pakistan, highlighting poverty as a structural driver of resistance. Yet, whether this association extends to diverse global settings remains untested. To address this gap, we will analyze temporal data (10+ years) from Vivli database for AMR trends, and World Bank/UN MPI datasets for poverty dynamics. Fixed-effects regression models will isolate how changes in MPI correlate with shifts in AMR prevalence, controlling for confounders like healthcare access and urbanization. The work addresses a critical blind spot: while AMR is a global health emergency, its social determinants are poorly understood longitudinally. Findings will reveal if poverty reduction universally slows AMR emergence—providing evidence for integrated policies (e.g., linking poverty alleviation to antimicrobial stewardship) for WHO and low- middle-income countries. Ultimately, we aim to position poverty as a actionable target for sustainable AMR mitigation worldwide
