This dataset provides the data supporting the manuscript,"A New Framework for Tree Segmentation using LiDAR Data Based on Canopy Surface Points." The research employed a diverse collection of forest laser scanning datasets, comprising both proprietary and publicly available scenes, which were categorized by acquisition platform: unmanned aerial vehicle (ULS), mobile laser scanning (MLS), and terrestrial laser scanning (TLS). The ULS data include our collected datasets from Guilin, Guangxi in southern China (designated as OSU) and Saihanba, Hebei in northern China (designated as ONU). The MLS and TLS data are from the public LAUTx dataset (designated as PLM) and the public Wytham dataset (designated as PWT), respectively. From each of these four datasets, two sample plots were selected for the experiments. The extended versions of the LAUTx and Wytham Woods datasets are available from https://doi.org/10.25625/QUTUWU.
