Transcriptome analysis of the Indian prawn Fenneropenaeus indicus

We present the complete transcriptome analysis of the Indian white prawn Fenneropenaeus indicus a major aquaculture species. We sequenced the mRNA obtained from hemolymph and hepatopancreas tissues of six healthy animals on Illumina HiSeq and performed a denovo assembly. The denovo assembly was compared with already published transcriptome of related penaeid species Fenneropenaeus merguiensis and Litopenaeus vannamei.We performed a comprehensive survey on the presence of key immunity genes across the three species along with well studied model organisms Drosophila melanogaster and Daphnia pulex. We also analysed the differential expression of miRNA obtained from diseased and healthy shrimps of Fenneropenaeus indicus.
