We present population-level epigenetic variation in Trichodesmium erythraeum IMS101 associated with steady-state Fe-limitation at two different P concentrations on both short (i.e. 2 months) and long timescales (i.e. ~1 year). Overall design: Briefly, IMS101 cell lines that were bubbled with 380 µatm CO2 air in nutrient replete media for ~7 years were then subjected to simultaneous Fe/P co-limitation for ~1 year (0.25 µM PO43- and 10 nM Fe). Following ~1 year of Fe/P co-limitation, 10 µm PO4 was supplied to Fe/P co-limited cultures generating steady-state Fe-limited cultures, which were grown for ~2 months prior to sampling. All samples for protein Walworth et al. 2016, RNA (Walworth et al. submitted), and methylation were taken simultaneously during the middle of the photoperiod until Illumina library preparation and sequencing.
