Genomes of Mycobacterium avium subsp hominissuis isolates from immunocompetent MAC lung disease patients in Japan

Mycobacterium avium, the causative agent of M. avium complex (MAC) lung disease, is a recombining opportunistic pathogen that has a considerable genetic diversity in local population. There are two major disease types in MAC lung disease. One type is slowly progressive nodular bronchiectasis (NB). The other type is fibrocavitary (FC) that involves cavity formation. NB also complicates cavity as the disease progresses. To address bacterial causal mutations for sever MAC lung disease, we report draft genomes of M. avium strains isolated from immunocompetent MAC lung disease adult patients in Japan, and their associated disease type.
