Red clover (Trifolium pratense) is a legume forage used as a feedstock in several countries worldwide because of its high nutritional value, yield, and protein content. However, its biomass yield decreases after two or three seasons, requiring further genetic research. Red clover was recently domesticated and showed high diversity between commercial lines and wild genotypes, which is a crucial reason to assemble and annotate a new genome using Pacbio HiFi and 10X linked reads.
