Extracted V/Cr as a redox proxy for seasonal hypoxia: Insights from the Changjiang Estuary

To obtain more detailed information of redox sensitive elememts on seasonal hypoxic events, and to explore whether these signals left in surface sediments can be preserved during sediment burial, the V and Cr in surface sediments off the Changjiang Estuary and different layers of a sediment core collected in southern hypoxia hot spot off the estuary are sequentially extracted, targeting exchangeable, carbonate-bound, Fe and Mn oxide-bound, organic and sulfide-bound, and residual fractions. The contents of different fractions of V and Cr used in our study are presented in the uploaded dataset.
