Transcriptome of shrimp pathogenic Vibrio campbellii

Pathogenic Vibrio campbellii strain HY01, a major cause of luminous vibriosis in shrimp, was used as a representative strain to study the effect of increasing temperature on its survival, virulence, and gene expression. The shrimp pathogen was cultured in Luria-Bertani broth supplemented with artificial seawater (60 ppt salinity) and incubated at two temperatures: 30 (optimal temperature) and 35 (warm temperature) degrees Celsius. During the mid-exponential growth phase, bacterial cells were collected and immediately treated with RNAprotect Bacteria Reagent (QIAGEN) to preserve the quality of nucleic acids. Total RNA extraction and sequencing were conducted by Macrogen, Inc. (Seoul, Korea).
