The goal of this study is to sequence and annotated Bacillus subtilis strain Natto VK161, which was screened among mutant strains of Bacillus subtilis Natto. This strain produces poly-gamma-glutamate (gamma-PGA), which gives a characteristic slimy texture to the fermented soybean product called natto.
