Michelson interferometer built with easy access material

Abstract This work presents a possibility to carry out an interferometer, similar to the one used in the famous Michelson and Morley experiment, using easy access materials and at a much lower cost than the didactic experiments available in the market. The main challenge of this article is to move one of the mirrors by a few millimeters, which is possible using a home-made system similar to a lever. Alignment is another major challenge in this article. Here an alternative device is presented which enables the beam alignment with enough precision to measure the laser wavelength within 4% relative error.
