Images and GIS Data from an Archaeological Evaluation at Great Barton Primary School, School Road, Great Barton, Suffolk, June 2021

This collection consists of images and GIS data from an archaeological evaluation by Cotswold Archaeology. Work occurred on land adjacent to Great Barton Primary School, School Road, Great Barton, Suffolk, in June 2021.A focus of Roman activity was identified in the area of Trenches 1, 2 and 4, with an assemblage of twenty-six sherds of Roman pottery, a single piece of fired clay, nine fragments of animal bone, a nail and a coin recovered from ditches in Trenches 1, 2 and 4, and a pit in Trench 4.Other finds of note include an Early-Middle Iron Age copper alloy bow brooch dating between c.450 - 300 BC that was recovered from topsoil within Trench 4 and a single post-medieval clay pipe stem recovered from the topsoil of Trench 1.
