The invention relates to a mixing device for the continuous mixing of fibers or chips with a binder， as well as a corresponding method and a protective plate necessary for the production of fiber or chipboard， the inner wall (13) of the mixing device (100) being made of steel， who wears a protective layer. In order to shorten maintenance work， it is provided that at least on part of the inner wall (13) of the mixing chamber (1) the protective layer consists of at least one geometrically adapted or adaptable protective plate (6)， the protective plate (6) comprising at least one magnet (22) has， with whose magnetic force it is held on the inner wall (13).
