VPRS 8921 Geographical Card Index to Personnel Registry Subject Files

This index was created to provide quick access to files in VPRS 8916 by geographical location as the focus of correspondence. Files indexed in this series cover subjects such as: SECV houses, amalgamation of district offices, abandonment of tramways at Ballarat, Geelong, SECV delegation to Japan, acquisition of electrical undertakings, etc..Information recorded on the cards includes :date (of creation of file);Location (Abbotsford, Japan, Yarraville, etc);Precis (equates to the file subject or title)File Number (eg 8/38); andcard number (used when there was more than one card for a location).Index cards in this series are green in colour and are arranged alphabetically by the name of the geographical locations within alphabetical sections. The cards are also numbered sequentially and arranged in number order within each alphabetic division. It is assumed that this series was created for the same period that VPRS 8916 was created, that is, 1978 to 1991.This series was created as part of the recordkeeping system which included the files (VPRS 8916), a file register (VPRS 8917), indexes to files by name (VPRS 8920) subject (VPRS 8918 and VPRS 8919) by classified positions (VPRS 8922) and by claim number (VPRS 8923).
