This study is to determine the role of gut microbiota on acetaminophen (APAP)-induced hepatotoxicity in mice model. To this end, we prepared C57Bl/6 mice from two different vendors [i.e., Jackson (JAX) and Taconic (TAC)] which are reported to have distinct gut microbiota. JAX and TAC mice exhibited different susceptibility to APAP toxicity which disappeared upon cohousing. Cecum material transplantation to germ-free (GF) mice recapitulated toxicity difference between JAX and TAC mice. This data includes 16S rRNA sequencing data from fecal genomic DNA collected from JAX, TAC, cohoused JAX, and cohoused TAC as well as GF mice given cecum material from JAX and TAC mice.
