Sewer mains are large underground pipes that carry wastewater from suburbs and urban areas to the city’s wastewater treatment plant. These mains form the core of the gravity-fed and pumped wastewater network and are essential for the safe and effective transportation of sewage. This layer represents individual sewer mains and includes details such as pipe diameter, length, material, elevations, and trunk connections. Data is continually updated as new information is received. The vertical datum used for this dataset is NZVD 2016. Dataset Fields (Columns): Compkey Unique, auto-generated identifier for each pipe asset. UnitID Unit ID at the starting point of the pipe (upstream). UnitID2 Unit ID at the end point of the pipe (downstream). Diameter Internal diameter of the pipe (in millimetres). Length Length of the pipe (in metres). UpperIL Invert Level (elevation) at upstream end of gravity fed main. LowerIL Invert Level (elevation) at downstream end of the gravity fed main. Material Code indicating what the pipe is made from (refer to the material code list). Trunk Classification of pipe based on its role in the sewer network (refer to trunk classification list). EAST – Eastern trunk A large gravity fed sewer pipe that collects wastewater from Fitzherbert Bridge and carries it to the STP trunk main. FEAT – Featherston trunk A large gravity fed sewer pipe that collects wastewater from Featherston St and carries it to the College trunk main. FERG – Ferguson trunk A large gravity fed sewer pipe that collects wastewater from Ferguson St and carries it to the Featherston trunk main. MAIN – Ashhurst trunk main A large gravity fed sewer pipe that collects wastewater from Ashhurst and carries it to the Ashhurst oxidation/flow buffer pond. MAXW – Maxwell/Western trunk A large gravity fed sewer pipe that collects wastewater from Maxwells Line and carries it toward the treatment plant. NONT – Non-trunk A gravity fed sewer pipe that carries wastewater from suburbs to the trunk mains. RISE – Rising main A pressurised sewer pipe that carries wastewater from low lying areas up to the gravity fed network. TREM – Tremaine trunk A large gravity fed sewer pipe that collects wastewater from Tremaine Ave and carries it toward the Featherston trunk main. TRNK – STP trunk A large gravity fed sewer pipe that collects wastewater from various trunk mains and carries it toward the treatment plant. WEST – Western trunk A large gravity fed sewer pipe that collects wastewater from north of the train tracks and carries it toward the Maxwells Line pump station.
