Genomic analysis of a potential probiotic strain

An unhealthy diet and uncontrolled medications disrupt the balance in the gut microbiome. Such dysbiosis triggers inflammatory intestinal disorders. Interestingly, application of probiotics is found to reduce oxidative stress and minimize gut-inflammation. Therefore, probiotic intake is considered as a preventive strategy for gut inflammation-related diseases. However, the functionality and beneficial roles of probiotics are strain specific. Hence, the characterization of novel probiotic strains is in demand. In this project, we wish to address the genomic analysis of a Lactobacillus sp. for characterization of probiotic properties of the strain.
