Different waves of postglacial recolonization and genomic structure of bank vole population in NE Poland

Previous study indicated that the distribution of two mtDNA lineages of bank vole in the north-eastern Poland correlated with some environmental factors. In present study we aimed to check if there were also any genetic mechanisms such as lack of compatibility between mtDNA and nuclear DNA causing problems with the respiration in the cells, which maintain the contact zone between these lineages. We analysed the population genetic structure of bank voles using high resolution genetic data (SNPs) and differentiation in functional genes of the heart transcriptomes obtained from selected individuals from three populations inhabiting areas outside the zone.
