EPM26520 (Buckingham) forms part of Teck Australia’s Isa South Project, an earn-in option/JV between Teck and Altius Minerals Australia Pty Ltd. The project includes licenses held by both parties, although Teck is currently operating. The project covers part of what is believed to be the southern covered extension of the strongly endowed “Western Succession”, which contains multiple World-class sediment-hosted massive sulfide (SHMS) Zn-Pb-Ag-Cu deposits, including the Mt Isa Mine, hosted in Paleoproterozoic sediments of the Isa Superbasin.
Teck is focused on discovering analogues of the Mt Isa-style SHMS deposits within fault-controlled depocentres concealed beneath Mesozoic and Cambrian sedimentary cover.
Work completed on the license during the reporting period included two cultural heritage surveys and a CEI-funded ground gravity survey over part of the Elizabeth magnetic low. Raw data has not been fully processed and interpreted yet due to late completion of the survey, but results will be included in next year’s annual report. All other activities were limited to desktop work due to the extended period of COVID travel restrictions.
Next year’s program will likely include a heritage survey and ground EM (CEI funded) over the southern extension of the Elizabeth magnetic low in order to define targets for drill testing.
