资源简介:
Have you ever wondered why some people struggle with binge eating?
This study looks at how people with Binge Eating Disorder (BED) make decisions about food compared to others. We found that individuals with BED tend to be more exploratory in their choices, often seeking new options rather than sticking with familiar ones. This behavior might explain why they find it hard to maintain consistent eating patterns. Our research used special computer tasks to measure how people balance exploring new choices versus exploiting known rewards. We compared three groups: people with BED, obese individuals without BED, and normal-weight individuals.
Interestingly, when people with BED followed a controlled diet for three months, their decision-making patterns changed to become more like those without the disorder. This suggests that both what we eat and how we think about food play important roles in binge eating behaviors. Understanding these decision-making processes could help develop better treatments for BED, potentially improving the lives of many who struggle with this challenging condition.
