Mozambique Endemic and Near-Endemic Red Listed Plant Species

The Southern African Plant Specialist Group (SASPG), under the IUCN Species Survival Commission (CSC), has met in Maputo to assess the state of conservation of plant species. The group has been concentrated in the endemic and near-endemic plants of Mozambique. SAPSG brings together institutions including the two national herbariums in Mozambique (LMA and LMU), the National Institute of Biodiversity of South Africa (SANBI), Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew (K) as well as independent experts. The evaluations are being reviewed independently and will subsequently be published on the IUCN website. These assessments will inform conservation planning, development planning, and inform consultants conducting environmental impact assessments.
