As of the first half of 2021, the shipment volume of wearables in China amounted to over 63 million units. Since 2015, the size of the wearables market had increased significantly. According to forecasts, the market size would increase to almost double its currents size by 2023. Wearables in China Wearables are very popular among Chinese consumers. They include various gadgets that can be worn on the body or head, such as smart glasses, fitness trackers, and smartwatches. Most consumers use their smartwatch to monitor fitness activities or their sleep cycle. Other popular applications include making payments and controlling other connected devices. Leading companies The wearables market in China was very competitive. Huawei, Xiaomi, and Apple battle for dominance of the market, and numerous smaller companies fight for marginal market shares. As of 2020, the information and communication technology company Huawei was the largest manufacturer of wearables based on shipment volume. Besides Apple, foreign companies had difficulty occupying a significant market share outside of their niche.
