E. coli strains T56-1 and T56-3 were evolved by adaptive laboratory evolution to grow faster in M9-glucose medium under a heavily-polluted diesel exhaust atmosphere. The adapted strains were transferred 56 times and genomic DNA was extracted for whole-genome sequencing with Illumina HiSeq 4000. Strains T56-1 and T56-3 are derived from E. coli BW25113.
