From Wikipedia: Selyaninov hydrothermal moisture coefficient is a characteristic of the level of moisture supply of the territory. Introduced by the Russian climatologist G. T. Selyaninov (1887-1966). It is widely used in agronomy for a general assessment of the climate and the allocation of zones of different levels of moisture availability in order to determine the feasibility of growing certain crops.
