Fecal microbiota in cats infected with Tritrichomonas foetus

Tritrichomonas foetus is a common and worldwide cause of chronic colitis and diarrhea in domestic cats. There are currently no consistently effective treatments for this protozoal infection. The aim of this study was to characterize differences in the fecal microbiota composition of cats with and without naturally occurring T. foetus infection and in cats before and after experimental infection with T. foetus. These data are anticipated to help better understand the pathogenesis of diarrhea in cats with T. foetus infection.
