NAND flash manufacturers revenue worldwide 2010-2024, by quarter

In the second quarter of 2024, Samsung generated revenues of 6.2 billion U.S. dollars from the sales of NAND flash products worldwide, ranking them first among manufacturers. This was an increase from the 5.4 billion U.S. dollars the company generated in the first quarter of 2024. SK Group ranked second among vendors, generating 3.72 billion U.S. dollars in revenue from the sales of NAND flash products. Computer memory marketComputer memory refers to the physical devices used to store data or programs for use in a computer. Primary storage allows for the short-term storage of data, while secondary storage, either in the form of hard disk drives (HDDs), solid-state drives (SSDs), flash drives, or other longer-term storage devices, record and hold data indefinitely, even when the main device is unpowered. A solid-state drive (SSD) is a newer storage technology that has no moving parts. Instead, it uses NAND flash memory, a type of non-volatile storage that does not require power to retain data. Lower-priced laptops often still come with the cheaper HDD option, but most mid-range to high-end PCs come with an SSD instead.  SK Hynix to acquire Intel’s NAND flash businessIn October 2020, the South Korean memory semiconductor supplier, SK Hynix, announced that it would acquire Intel’s NAND flash business for nine billion U.S. dollars. The first stage of the deal was completed in late 2021, with SK Hynix taking over Intel's solid-state drive business and NAND manufacturing facility in Dalian, China. The second stage of the deal is expected to be closed in 2025. SK Hynix saw an expanded NAND flash manufacturers market share in 2022, briefly surpassing Kioxia to become the second largest firm in the second quarter of that year before slipping back into third position the following quarter.
