Bird Image Dataset

<p>In the present study, we first investigated the existing data sets containing bird images. However, it was decided that the images in these data sets could not be used due to their size, quality, resolution and the inability to determine the color information of the birds. Therefore, 100 bird images were collected from the internet for this study. Image selection criteria were the species in the image had to have at least four colors; that there was only one bird in the image; that the image quality was high; and that the entire bird and its colors could be displayed accurately. The species, gender, internet link of the image, information used to identify the bird, and color data of the birds in these images were kept in a separate file. Each image in the data set was saved as 0001-0100.jpg. After the creation of the data set, the labeling process commenced. The color information for each bird species in the data set was taken from the eBird platform created by the Cornell Lab of Ornithology at Cornell University.  In our study, the labeling regions were defined based on the external anatomy of bird. </p>
