This dataset shows the cleaned data from Takara SmartChip PCR processing to quantify antibiotic resistance genes. The DNA samples were taken from six household-scale anaerobic digesters situated in Bishoftu, Ethiopia in 2020. Six samples of substrate (cow dung and water 1:1 mix) were taken on Day 1 of the study and six diegstate samples were taken on Day 36. As the digesters have a retention time of approximetly 36 days, this is representative of the effects of anaerobic digestion on the input substrate on Day 1. Thereofore the six substrate samples can be compared to the six digestate samples in terms of the relative abundance of antibiotic resistance genes and mobile genetic elements.
