Power Sector Data and Tools (PSDaT)

The EPA Power Sector Data and Tools (PSDaT), provided by the Clean Air and Power Division, offers a suite of emissions data and related tools that are organized into five components: The Power Sector Data, Summary Data, Data on Allowances, Environmental Monitoring Data, and Power Sector Modeling. A variety of tools to view, download, and assess data specific to individual components are available and described in each component. The power plant emission data collected by EPA since 1990 are the primary source of data for PSDaT. 1) The Power Sector Data section includes emissions data, e.g., hourly emissions of CO2, NOX, SO2 and mercury, along with facility attribute data, e.g., fuel type, emission control devices. As of 2018, data from approximately 96% of the fossil fuel power plants in the U.S. are represented. 2) The Summary Data component contains summary-level data at varying levels of detail from EPA's power sector programs, such as reports and resources to help understand the data that reflect emission reductions. 3) The Data on Allowances includes allowance allocations, accounts, holdings, and transactions data that are used along with emissions data to determine compliance of regulated sources. 4) The Environmental Monitoring Data component presents data for use in evaluating changes in air quality, atmospheric deposition, and water quality in lakes and streams. 5) The Power Sector Modeling section provides access to Information and documentation on EPA’s power sector modeling resources and regulatory applications.
