Microbial diversity of hydrocarbon-rich soil from Chennai, India.

This study investigates the microbial diversity present in hydrocarbon rich soil collected from Chennai, India. The goal is to identify the major and minor microbial groups using 16S rRNA gene sequencing of the V3 V4 region. Hydrocarbon contaminated soils often contain specialized microorganisms with roles in hydrocarbon degradation and bioremediation. Understanding the microbial community structure in this environment will help reveal ecological functions, metabolic potential, and possible applications in environmental cleanup. The data contribute to global soil microbiome research and support studies on microbial adaptation in polluted sites.
