Hypoxia has been linked to increased treatment resistance in many solid tumors, including head and neck squamous cell carcinoma (HNSCC). We aim to identify genes involved in hypoxia-mediated response to radiotherapy in HNSCC. We used microarrays to investigate the influence of hypoxia on the global gene expression in HNSCC. Overall design: HNSCC cells ( LK0858, LK0863, UT-SCC-14) were grown in normoxic (21% O2) and hypoxic (1% O2) conditions and thereafter were selected for RNA extraction and hybridization on Affymetrix microarrays.
