This study investigates the bacterial composition and silicon availability in BD 501preparations utilizing quartz and diatom sources of silicon unavailable to plants. Seven preparations were made with different silicon sources, including quartz and diatoms, and buried in experimental plots. Silicon availability was quantified using acetic acid extraction, and bacterial communities were analyzed using metagenomic sequencing of the 16S-V3 rRNA gene.
