VPRS 11711 Court of General Sessions/County Court Verdict Book, Yarram

Successive County Court Rules have required the court to keep a record of all verdicts, orders and judgements of the court. The verdict book is the authoritative record of the court.Immediately after the sitting of the court the judgements were written up in the register from the verdict book. The latter book was used for recording the judgements as they were delivered in court.This series was used to maintain a record of verdict in insolvency and criminal jurisdiction.Details recorded include:- Case number,- Names of the plaintiff and defendant,- Date of trial,- The order of the Judge and- Amount to be paid (in the case of insolvency)
